On June the 14th, 2006, The Baton Rouge Restaurant in Montreal was the site for the media launch of a program - to promote, support and increase volunteerism in Canada – that many local charity groups want adopted by federal, provincial and municipal governments. A coalition of concerned citizens gathered together to celebrate this initiative including: Sid Stevens from “Sun Youth”, Adrian and Natalie Bercovici from “Generations Foundation”, Brian Roscoe from “Dreams Take Flight”, Melpa Kamateros from “The Shield of Athena”, as well as Dr. S. Dwivedi from the “Freedom from Poverty Foundation”. The event was sponsored by Montreal business woman and philanthropist Chris Ann Nakis.

Over the years, we have continued to send our mission statement and project suggestions to various government officials and media groups with hopes that this initiative would be promoted, considered, studied and ultimately: implemented. We ask that you remember the famous words from the late President John F. Kennedy: "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country” and become part of our Volunteer movement.
